question about playability... |
|
I installed the demo, im thinking of buying this on saturday. the problem is, it kept freezing at the movie intro, so i took it out of the ini file, then I couldnt use my mouse on the menu screen or in game, which was fine because i can use the keyboard. THEN it kept freezing on me, i pushed cntrl + alt + delete+ then esc and it came back, got up to a gate in the game after 5 cntrl+alt+dels... then the game crashed. from what ive played the game looks good.
I just want to know if these problems will be fixed in the retail version of the game or should i even bother buying it and just wait for gothic 2? |

Probably with the latest patch and Gothic 2 seems to be far more stable. |

Gothic isn't the most bug-free game ever but with the patches it's perfectly playable. Apart from a couple of known annoyances (winches are unreliable, for example) I never had a problem and I'm sure there are hundreds of Gothic players here who would agree.
Definitely get it. |

Gothic II uses a bugfixed and enhanced version of the same engine. Itīs so stable that one can be relatively sure CTDs or freezes are caused by the system itīs running on. Gameplay bugs are on an acceptable level.
Gothic 1 is in playable condition. Most users donīt have seriuos problems with it. But if there are problems then they come in masses. Demo and full version are based upon the same build. Another patch is very unlikely.
Both Gothics are very sensitive regarding small errors in system configurations like outdated drivers, filesharing tools running in the background, overheating CPUs, bad power supplies ...
So your chances are better with Gothic II. Only get G1 if itīs cheap. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
