any new rpgs out? I have lionheart but due to technical difficulties I can't continue my game. I know Gothic 2 is out but I'd have to special order that since they don't sell it in stores near me. I like D&D but don't like the old system....I like 3rd edition. Any suggestions would be welcome. _________________ "What are you gonna do? Release the dogs?! Or the bees?! Well, not many games with 3rd edition out there, anyhow... Namely:
- Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor
- Icewind Dale 2
- Neverwinter Nights + Shadows of Undrentide
- Temple of Elemental Evil (uses 3,5 edition)
From this list I didn't play ToEE yet. I can advice NWN and IWD2. Both great games. Don't go for PoR, it's not that good. ToEE should be *very* good, but maybe a bit too hardcore D&D. If it suits you, pick it up NOW _________________ - Druids do not fight with metal weapons! Sit here, and you over here. Put the elbows of your right arms on the table...

I didn't know STKOFTR was on PC yet. Yea I'm too lazy to type it out. I have Icewind Dale 2....is TOEE in stores? I hate having to special order and pay through the nose for S&H. _________________ "What are you gonna do? Release the dogs?! Or the bees?! Knights of the Old Republic for PC is not released yet. Your sources are correct. ToEE is definitely in stores, and I'm going to have it tomorrow _________________ - Druids do not fight with metal weapons! Sit here, and you over here. Put the elbows of your right arms on the table...

I have TOEE on order. Not all places charge shipping. Check it out. I got G2 from the UK for about what I'd pay for it here if it's ever released here. HOU is also coming for NWN so keep your eyes and ears open for that one as well/ _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Check eBay for games. I buy almost all my games from the UK or US off eBay - they're alot cheaper and you get them faster than waiting for them to be relased in your country (where-ever that is). I'm in NZ and would usually have to wait months until the game 'proves' itself as a good seller overseas before it's released here - but not the eBay way
Regarding a good RPG, I liked Morrowind, NWN, Mistmare, Summoner and the Gothics, but they're not AD&D - except for NWN. Dare to branch out a little, lol
Talking Gothic and eBay again - I had received and played my copy a couple of months before it was released here. _________________ There're 3 sorts of people who're good at maths - those that are and those that aren't. |

Have you checked out Arx Fatalis? Different from Morrowind or Gothic, but I have all three and loved Arx. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Arx Fatalis was too weird for me. Especially the spell system. I don't like having to draw stuff in the air with my fingers to cast a spell. I guess I didn't like how they made it so technical. I'd rather see great spell effects than trying to get the feel of really casting a spell. I had Morrowind but got very bored of it. I'm looking for something very new besides LH as that is on hold till they fix a certain bug. _________________ "What are you gonna do? Release the dogs?! Or the bees?! Really! I Loved Arx. For ONCE I could use spells - the simplicity and ease of use of the spells was a BIG PLUS for me. All this other stuff - spell books, memorizing, sleeping, scrolls, alchemy - is WAY too confusing (maybe I'm a closet blonde )
Ohh, forgot to say - I'm waiting for 'Once Upon a Knight.' It sounds like it'll be one worth the wait. _________________ There're 3 sorts of people who're good at maths - those that are and those that aren't. |

I've played through all of these and found them to be fun:
Divine Divinity, I thought this was the best overall CRPG of 2002, IMO.
Arx Fatalis best first person CRPG in recent memory, but puzzles are kind of vague; it's a tough game.
System Shock 2, HIGHLY recommended CRPG.
Neverwinter Nights, Summoner, Dungeon Siege (diablo-esque) are a couple of bargain games that you could find for cheap that would probably keep you entertained.
Those would be my suggestions, good luck! |

@Sherrin, I know it's a ridiculously large download but have you tried the demo of Knightshift/Once Upon A Knight, yet? |

@Dhruin No, I haven't. Obviously you have, and what's your verdict? Not good?
I'm still on my small PC as my big gamer's STILL away being fixed, and I doubt she could take a large download.
C'mon do tell, I'm dyin' to know, lol. _________________ There're 3 sorts of people who're good at maths - those that are and those that aren't. |

No, I haven't yet. I started to download it - then realised Getright hadn't fired up - then got arrogant and thought 'who cares, I've got good broadband...'. Came back later and it had dropped out around 300Mb.
I'll download it today. I just knew you were keen on it and thought you'd best check it out before you imported it. I'm not an RTS player, so you may not want to listen to my opinion, anyway. |
