Whenever I get into a fight and there are lots of other enemies around (usually bloodflies), usually when I attack one of them, the game crashes to desktop. It has happened to me maybe a hundred times, almost always with either bloodflies or wolf packs. Every time it crashes to desktop, I cannot get the game to close using task manager, and I have to reboot, or the system eventually reboots itself if I try to close the application myself.

I'm using:

Windows XP Professional
ABIT KG7-RAID w/512 MB Crucial DDR Reg. RAM
T-bird 1.4Ghz
Geforce 2 Ti
Soundblaster Audigy

I'm running the game with almost all detail at max, and resolution at 1024x768. If anyone knows of a way to fix this, I would very much love to hear it. I really enjoy this game, but this problem is hampering that enjoyment quite a bit. Thanks!

Audigy problem.

Change your options from surround to 4 speakers.

Yeah, itīs a sound problem. Try the different sound settings.

How do you guys arrive at it being a sound problem?

I do indeed have four speakers hooked up to my amp, and I have it set to four speakers in windows. But I've changed the in-game settings to four speakers now too (down from surround) and it's still doing it. At first it seemed to be working, but I realize that it's still doing it. It's doing it with the minecrawlers now.

Why don't you think it could be a video related issue? It's just like "CLICK" and then back to desktop, WinXP is unable to shut down the program, although I can bring up task manager and right click to close it. I have messed with all the sound setting, and nothing seems to be working... It's very strange.

Experience. Crashes when you fight packs of enemies, mostly crawler, bloodflies, wolves, dogs; with reference to 'mss32.*' (in my case).
The fix for this is a change of the sound provider plus a restart of Gothic.

Another possible solution is disabling echo effects. If there is such an option, or a similar, in the English version you should try it.
