Arx Fatalis and Thief

I'm curious, is there anyone from Looking Glass on the Arx dev team? Does it use a modified version of the Thief engine? I've been playing the Arx demo for a few hours now (and loving it, despite a slightly iffy interface) and the similarities are striking. The graphics and feel of the engine seem very similar, as does the combat. The voice acting and sound effects are almost identical in places and the cutscenes follow the same format at Theif's.

If someone was playing this and I just glanced at the screen I'd probably mistake it for a custom Thief 2 mission.

Arx doesn't use the Dark Engine, the Arx engine is an original engine (at least that's what I read somehwhere).

However, any game that reminds me of Thief in any way has got SOMETHING good going on.

Andro asked if Arx used the Thief engine. The Thief engine's name is Dark Engine. No obsession.

Speaking of the Dark Engine. I just re-installed Thief 2 on my new comp. My copy of Divine Divinity won't arrive until tomorrow so I needed something to do. The Dark Engine runs so smooth on this computer it's great. My old computer was a PoS basically, which ruined the enjoyment of many a game. Playing Thief 2 through with ungodly FPS is a whole new wonderful experience
