Where can I store my loot?

Is it safe or advisable to store my booty in some of the sacks or chests I find throughout the game. I'm just starting out and I can't hold too much. Is there anyplace that I can store my loot so that it will still be there tomorrow?

I usec the balmora house plugin.
You can just pick a house and put your stuf in there.
If you have done the tax collecters quest in Seyda neen you cleared out a house, you can use that one.
Don't keep stuf in chest or crates, some people lost their stuf that the put into them.

I store stuff in Balmora right on the walkway next to the river. I also have a large rock outside of Balmora with stuff categorized and I store all of my books in Vivec's temple. Just pick a spot.

Others have taken over houses and stored stuff in them (I suggest the floor to avoid losing items if regeneration occurs).

Now that I think about it, I may waste a couple of hours moving all of my scattered items into my Stronghold on the Odai Plateau.

Once you get high enough in any of the Great Houses, you can build your own stronghold. They're expensive, but they're worth it! Until them, follow these guys' advice.
