Warlords 4 Preview @ Gamers Depot

Infinite Interactive's Warlords 4 has been previewed at Gamers Depot. Here's a comment on the different combat system they've employed:
Combat in Warlords IV is quite different from most RTS/turn based strategy games. Instead of sending your units into battle in real time, or even moving them all in a turn based way, units go into battle one at a time and battle it out in a duel-like fashion. Yes, that’s right, units now fight one on one and all other units sit back and watch as your lone archers get stomped by the big enemy demon one after the other. It’s definitely an interesting way to handle things, and it does work, but it’s nowhere near as exciting to us as previous versions of the game have been – and it doesn’t really make that much sense to us – we fear it might be too bland and many players may find they dislike it. Some allies in the party can affect the currently deployed unit while it’s in battle, but mostly these affects are subtle and difficult to notice.

Ignore that preview, the author obviously never played Warlords before. This is almost exactly how previous versions handled combat except that you had to predefine the order that units went into the fray instead of deciding as the battle went on.
