I wan't to be a mage...

Is there any walktrough for Gothic with all the steps on how to be a mage? When can you join the Circle of Fire or Water in the game?

I don,t know a walktrough but you can join the Fire Mages when you join the old camp, instead of become a guard you become a Fire Mage. And a Water Mages you become in chapter 4 (I think).

Ok, by now you should be competent enough to take out minecrawlers...
If not, you will have difficulties with this mission... Try your
skill on some of the first crawlers you encounter. Inside that cave
(with two templars outside) you will find a magic ring.

On your way down you will pass the cave that leads to a smaller cave
with some wooden architecture (an old masher) and three crawlers.
Take them out, and grab the cogwheel on the ground.

Go up and speak to Ian about the wheel, and give it to him. Explain
your mission, and he will give you a password.

Go down to the bottom cave. Remember when you grabbed the Bone Bow?
There is another cave here, enter it, and cleanse it from minecrawlers.
Grab the decent club you find on the ground.

Go down to the deepest part of the cave, and up to Ashgan, the guard
of the gate. Give him the password, but he wont open the door unless
there are templars nearby. DONT TOUCH THE WINCH, and SAVE BIGTIME!

There is a bug here that might force you to cheat go get past this
part of the game... And we dont want that do we?

Now go and talk to each of the three Cor's in the three templars
in the mine Gor Na Bar, Gor Na Vid, Gor Na Kosh. Tell each one that
they should come and help you. One of them want a healthpotion, but
give him that and he will join too.
Then return and speak to Asghan. Here is the point where things might
screw up... If he opens up the gate, then save again. If he doesnt,
try the winch... If its jammed, reload...

If all else fails, then you will need to cheat past this... Check
the bugs chapter to learn how.

If the gate does open we are ready to go...
Let the Templars do their job, feel free to attract minecrawlers down
to them, they will pay in blood and you will get the experience for it.

When you are through with everything you will end up with the queen.

If you are a Mage, torch it, if you are a Ranger, use the scrolls or
lots of arrows, if you are a Warrior, whack her up.
Grab the eggs and get out of there.

Talk to the Templars, talk to Asgahn and Ian... exit the mine and
speak to Cor Kalom.

Guard!
If you have joined the Old City, you can now report to Thorus to be
promoted as a guard. As a guard you can get a updated armor from Stone,
Learn 2-handed combat from Thorus, Crossbow from Scorpio
and buy things from Skip.
Ask if you can become a fire mage first, then end the conversation.
Now go straight to Coristo, the head fire mage, and talk to him.
(If you became a guard before speaking to Coristo, you will never get
the option to become a fire mage!) Say you want to be a fire mage,
take his test, then let him go up the stairs, and DON'T follow.
Go back to Torus _now_ and say you want to be a guard.
Get your guard armour, train whatever guard skills you want (like crossbows)...
No you can change your mind any time you wish and still become a fire mage!
(go back to Coristo on the upper floor with the pentagram to become a Fire Mage)

(Thanks to Moralin for the in-depth description of this procedure).

Light Guard Armor
Weapons 45 Arrows 5 Fire 20

Fire Mage!
See the information about Guard above to get the advantages of being
a guard even if you become a fire-mage.
You may also request to become a Fire Mage, then you will meet
Corristo that will take your oath of becoming a Fire Mage.
I hope you have saved loads of experience by now, buy as many
circles you can (preferably all four (70 points)).
Buy all the runes you can from Torrez (Old Camp), Cronos (New Camp)
and Baal Cadar (Sect Camp). You can probably buy about 10 in Mana
now if you have skillpoints left, but then its time to start saving
again, becouse we need another 30 points for the next circle and then
another 40 for the next circle beyond that. From now on you may
learn Mana from Corristo and access the Temple, so go ahead and rob
the chests on the first floor. Heheheheh....

I dont think so...most walktroughs are really not clear on that point

But i think i can help you out for a bit

Become Fire Mage:You have to join the Old Camp first before you can become fire mage. When you are a shadow , Raven asks you to go to the Sect Camp and hear what there is going on.You have to get the focus stone for Y'Berion (see the map he gives you). After you done that Yberion asks you to go to Cor Colom he will ask you to go to the mine and get the eggs from the minecrawler queen...Go to the mine talk to people and go to the bottom to see Ian...he needs a cogweel(somewere near there should be one (HINT:there is a room with a machine that is broken with minecrawlers...there is a weel)then go down Ian has given you a pasword and tell that to asghan (at the bottom near a gate) you need to search 3 Templars (the one with names) then gather them at the gate and go in....find the queen kill it and get the eggs and go to the Sect Camp go and tell Cor Kolom...after this you can be a guard (ask thorus, BUT if you want to be mage tell him i am interested in magic..and go to Milten)just answere a few questions corristo asks and you are in
this is the quikest way to learn magic

Water Mage: When you joined the OC and SPOILER you are thrown out you can join the New Camp...at that time you just ask the magician you can see if you can join and you can join
f you want to know the process just ask and i will explain

Water Mage:Kolom asks you to get an Almanach....go to Talas and he will guide you to a bridge..slay the little monsters there and search the chest witch holds the alamanach... you maybe want to take some arrows...bring it back to Kolom and he will invite you to the meeitng to call the Sleeper...
SPOILER:youll see that Yberion collapses and see an orc escape...Angar asks you to investigate that and Talas will lead you to another bridge...(watch out they are strong at this point of level...later on to but not lethal on their own)Youll see a cave...go in fight Orcs and when you continue you will meet Lukor...help him , chat with him and go searching for 2 pieces of a scroll.....(watch for a switch (Lukor will give you a hint) in a sort of cell with no door)this maybe some hard to find
When you have them go to the big room with the orc warrior, waste him and the others....then go to the closed door Lukor will give you the teleportation scroll...use it to get on the other side and use the winch...take him to the farest room ...take the sword(nice) and he will go mad (nothing is there) ,give him a beat m up and leav him there (you dont have to kill him) go to the Sect Camp again and report to Cor Angar , he asks you to get some healing herb i think (near the swampsharks)
When you come back SPOILER! Yberion is dead...u must take the almanach and focus to the new city and find the other focusses (tell the mage witch you can find near the Ore pit...HIS NAME IS CRONOS that Yberion is dead and now you can go see Saturas the big bos of the mages on top of the cave....)
Youll have to get the other focus stones too see the map he give you...when you have them you give them to saturas and youll get mayor XP...SPOILERwhen you have given them to Saturas you wont be able to get into the Olc Camp anymore when you go to the gate you will be attacked....go the the New City and join the mercenaries.. AFTER THAT YOU CAN JOIN THE WATER MAGES...(i think you just have to talk to cronos or saturas)

I hope this helped a bit like the other memebers here

No, there isn't one. But if you would like to write one, then they would probably consider adding it to the Gothic Support files.

Did anybody say walkthrough?

When itīs ready please send it to Jaz or me.

I strongly suggest you spend a few minutes planning this whole thing! We have a walkthrough inside JemyMīs FAQ, so we donīt need a new one unless itīs better! Of course it shouldnīt be a problem to write a better walkthrough because you can use HTML to structure it, pictures to illustrate and our maps to make it unmisunderstandable, while JemyM had to rely on text alone.
Properly planned it will be a good replacement for the old walkthrough.

When you made up your mind, post here or contact me.
