Now that I've learned the basics and have levelled up a few times, I'd like to decide which camp to join. I'm leaning towards the Sleeper Sect because they look more interesting than the others (plus they sit around smoking that swampweed all day - they obviously have a direct line to the cosmos). Are there any quests that I should NOT do if I want to join them? Or can I keep playing all three sides until I make a final decision?
I have already stolen the recipe from the Sect (in broad daylight, and nobody even stopped me) although I couldn't get into the second chest in the lab in the Sect. I son't know if stealing the recipe will put the kibosh on joining them. |

Stealing the recipe will mean nothing to them, so no swaet, they'll still take you.
And you'll be able to open the second chest only when you're allowed to do so.

What does the Old Camp offer that's better than the Sect Camp? |

In terms of quests - there is NO difference at all between the various camps. You can do all the quests (and will) regardless of which camp you join. Unfortunately, the game designer made the paths the same once you join a camp - so it doesn't matter (in terms of quests) which you join.
If you join the Swamp Camp, you can learn magic right away (though only through level 4).
If you join the Old Camp, you can learn magic next soonest (at the same time you will be allowed to become a guard).
If you join the New Camp, you will learn magic nearer the end of the game.
That's about it for differences. Everybody sells to you no matter which camp you join. You do the same quests, in the same order for the same people.

It's a matter of taste, and of what you'd like to be later on.
If you like to suffer mental anguish en masse, join the OC .
