By the time you enter the militia, Leather Armor will be useless because even Light Militia Armor is more powerful than that.

Reference:

[name: physical / arrow / fire / magic]
Leather Armor: 25 / 20 / 5 / 0
Light Militia Armor: 40 / 40 / 5 / 5

I think I tried that (and several other things), but couldn't do it, so I figured it couldn't be done and looked for another way. I'll try again when I get home from work.

Lysander...Your trick does work in the full game. I tried it last night with my new English ver., but it took a few tries to get up there. I did have one big problem though…I went in before I learned lock picking…DOUGH!

Grimbald that camps near black troll or Gestath in the Valley of Mines are the teachers for minecrawlers plates.

BTW, Lysander, where did you learn how to lockpick? Thorben is too expensive and the Thieves' Guild... well, I don't want to solve their quests until I reach the later chapters.

beat up the money lender and steal his book, give it to Thorben, then he teaches it you for free. (I think..)
