Weapon Forging Discussion

Being a uni-lingual American, I will not be able to understand the demo, so if anyone can shed some light on this matter:

In Gothic I, the use of raw steel to forge swords was a joke. Take the steel, stick it in the fire, hit it once on the anvil, dip it once in the water, and grind it on the wheel for 1/20th of a second...I think that real weapon forging is a bit more difficult. That on top of the fact that you can only make crude swords.

In Gothic II, will you be able to learn skills to increase the quality of your forged weapons? Can you make axes as well as swords? Do you get to choose what weapon you will make?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you can download english subtitles for the demo, just search the forums theres a link somewhere.

you can forge weapons in G2, swords yes, don't think you can forge anything else. The actually forging is even more simplified than gothic 1 because you dont have to use the wheel or the bucket, but you can make different kinds of swords, it takes 5 skill points to learn each kind tho, and you have to be a blacksmith's apprentice.

you can also make magic runes and potions too

You can forge very strong swords later in the game.
