why wont merchants give me money when i sell stuff??

am i doing something wrong? i ask to see someones wares and i put my wares in the trade window and then press enter on accept. the items disapear but i get no coins or ore. plz help

You're giving the items away when you do that.

You have to select from their inventory what you want in trade. Whether it be all ore, all equipment or a mix of both. The values of your trade appear above your items, the value of the vendor's trade appears above his items.

When they are equal trade, unless you want to give him more value for what you want. If your value is below his, he will not accept the trade.
