Mindread is one of those freebie-skill-developers. If you have a Mana Stone and are at a merchant who'll buy it from you, you can max your Psi and Mental in a few minutes of game time. Just cast MR on the merchant, use the Mana Stone down to 1 charge, sell it & buy it back recharged; repeat. This works with Charm, too, which practises either Divinity or Psionics and Mental.
