How to change Pyrokar in focus name to John.

@Mercenary

UltraEdit32 is fine Hex Editor for editing.

Open up file gothic.dat with Editor in Gothic2\_work\Data\Scripts\_compiled folder.

Goto to exact line adress 00214126 h (for UK version 1.31 only!) or search for 'Pyrokar' with ASCII text box checked and match case until you find the name alone: 'Pyrokar' with End of Data, in hex format it is this:

50 79 72 6F 6B 61 72 0A FF FF FF FF new name must fit in original space.

4A 6F 68 6E 00 00 00 0A FF FF FF FF changed name to 'John'.

Now when Pyrokar is in focus, he has 'John' above his head for his new name.

Do the same for any name.

I also sent you a file with my german text bug patch and the new name John. It is a zipped file 1 Meg, just replace original gothic.dat file.

Please post if this works for you for feedback information.

i dont understand y you would want to change the game... i find it a very beautiful game, besides i think that if you want certain changes to make your own rpg, you seem smart enough ( i realize that would take an extremely long time but it would give you something useful to do instead of tinkering with some one elses brilliant ideas)

That's a simple HEX editing, done that craploads in the past, in loads of games. Back then there weren't all these trainers around or editors, and some things "looked" wrong in the games, so HEX editor was the true gamers best friend Heck, you could edit literally ANYTHING, as long as you did know what and where and to what.

Over the later years, though, there has been no need to edit anymore in HEX since there's plenty of good editors around for different things. But, still, it's handy to have a good HEX editor at hand
