Finished with Paladin, is it worth playing the mercenary?

So I finished the game as a paladin, had lots of fun. I'm now starting again as a mage.

My question is: Is there a point to playing the mercenary? or I as a paladin ,have I learned most of the cool skills. Is there something special that mercenaries get over paladins?

well as a merc/dragonhunter you get a cool looking armour you can make your own weapons witch are better then the paladin ones and you get some other quests

only if you play all three guilds you will understand the whole story of gothic 2

I'll be playing the mercenary next. After that I'll probably play the thief's guild and then the magicians. As a paladin I focused primarily on my 1H and 2H sword skills. As a Mercenary I'll focus primarily on my crossbow and bow skills. When I'm a magician I'll focus only on magic related things...

I thought playing a paladin was a blast. Hopefully playing as a mercenary will be as fun.

@SirDeity

the thieves guild is not a guild like the militia/paladin, mercs/dragonhunters, novice/mage

you are only a member of them and you will never finish the game if you are only in the thieves guild!

I know this. I just want to play again and ally myself with the thiefs guild because it sounds like a fun thing to do. Don't tell me what happens please!

Currently, my plans for my mage are to join the thieves guild, since as a paladin I killed all the thieves.

One thing i never realized was crossbow or bow combat, I never tried those out with my paladin so maybe mercenary may be somewhat unique afterall.
