Does anyone know how stats affect combat(specifically)? Does higher strength mean more damage with a sword, or is it just a barrier to keep you from using powerful weapons too soon? Does dexterity change how fast you can shoot arrows or the speed of sword work?
I guess what I am getting at is: Does it pay to have more str/dex than is needed to use a particular waepon? _________________ "You two are a regular ol' Three Musketeers." |

Hey there Jung,
Generally, it's strength for swords and dex' for bows/crossbows.
It depends on your own preference which you take up, with swords as you
train higher you will learn new moves and as a master, even a combination of
moves and they are cool (like Zorrow, double foward swish, then big forward
thrust with a "Z" like ending. I personally like to use bows/crossbows, the higher the training and dex' makes so you can shoot fast and from a distance.
But the best way of all is to have both, then you can use stealth and cunning
as you so choose. _________________ Forever aches my wretched soul, for Chromanin locked in that dark hole, though crypted key i've yet to learn, he knows one day i will return. |

I found in G2 they want you to strategize your SP within your character. I found that the more strength I gave my character, the heavier damage weapons I found and could use. It frustrating having a weapon but not strong enough to use it.
The stronger and heavier damage weapon, the less likely you are to get killed. The more victories, more SP, loot, gold, additional weapons or parts, which in turn you can sell for need items, food, etc.
Dexterity, yes you are correct. The faster you swing and more accurate you'll shoot.
You want to spend your SP in developing 1 or 2 handed combat. I went directly to 2-handed. G2 didn't make me go through 1-H first. You'll start jamin' when you are at fighter. I also spent on one of the bow, not both. I chose marksman level on both (also depends what your character is carrying) then master on one. I based it on who I came across first.
Master Level is awesome. You get less damage to your character and more accurately hit targets in one shot. For example, one arrow will kill some animals, 3 arrows killed Orcs or Lizardmen, etc. When you are at Master Level, on either bow or crossbow, your character will kneal down on one knee to shoot. This comes in handy on some who throw ice or fire at you.
One obstacle I found because I wasn't interested in Mage, I really didn't up Mana level. In return, I am unable to use higher damaged scrolls. You can still use fire scrolls, for example, to kill Ice Golems, but it takes many and they get harder to find or buy and the Ice Golems in one section are everywhere. |

In melee combat Str is added to your weapon damage in case of a critical hit. The weapon skill is an indicator for the chance to land a critical hit. The percentage is of course relative to the game´s internal scale. 100% doesn´t mean you always do a critical. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Well i think it does, or am i just very lucky so i never got a non-critical hit after learning 100%? _________________ One blade good, two blade better |

One of my friends had 105% of 2handed. He went up to 100 with Lee and then bought the book from the merchant. _________________ http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?megadav!count |
