BUG? won't get tasks as a novice fire mage

I just entered the monastery, brought the gold and Betsie and then no npc will give me quests/tasks no matter what...

If I got it right then the guy (parmam o something like that?) before the church should give me tasks but he will just increase my mana and nothing else...

Please help, this one is really sad

Ok:
1) Talked to the guy before the entrance, got the order t-shirt
2) Talked to Parlan, been told to give sheep to shepherd and gold to treasurer, did it. Tried this at day, at night, combination of two just in case.
3) Nothing at point 2 works. Talked to EVERY character in the monastery (and the guy at the roadside shrine too for that matter). No one will give me a quest, task or whatever except for the shepherd and Babo that need my help for 2 small matters...
4) Really pissed off and going to uninstall gothic?

Is there a way to set a quest as done? Some savegame editor or such thing...
Maybe if I got the first task done the others will come...

And by the way, I JUST started chapter 2 sneaking in the town hall and talking to Hagen before going to the monastery.

That may have been your mistake. The point of the quests in monastery is to get you into the libraray, find out about the test of fire, becoming a mage and THEN going to Lord Hagen. If you have already made it in to see Lord Hagen and he has asked for proof of dragons, I'm not sure if there is any way to proceed.

I was surprised that the guards at the town hall didn't notice me, now I'm quite annoyed by this problem, however I've settled the matter by joining Lee. Too bad, the monastery had seemed a lot more attractive.

btw: when I said "just started chapter 2" I meant that I had only 3-4 hours of play after that point so I don't enjoy the idea of going back since I have only so much spare time

Thnx

Having the same problem. Became an apprentice in Kharanis (sp?) and talked to Hagen and then went and became a novice Fire Mage. Now I can't get a single task from the Fire Mages to advance.

Were you still able to join Lee after becoming a Novice?? Or did you reload a saved game? I hope I am not stuck. I don't have the energy to start over .

I can't remember, but check your status screen, the one with your guild. If it still says guildless you don't have to go all the way back. You can start up with militia or Lee. That's why it's a good idea to have many saves so you don't have to go back so far.
