Jagged Alliance 2...

...well, at least I think it was an RPG in addition to being a tactical game. I loved that game, really loved it... now I'd like to know who else played it, liked it/didn't like it and why, and who you favorite NPC was?

I loved the game for the character interaction, and my favorite team members were Grunty and Barry; they made a great team, the first was incredibly neat if a bit disturbed, and Barry was so timid and yet the best shooter I had in my unit. I still think the latter fact was a bug because he was basically a tech, yet his hit ratio for some reason amounted to 150%... still I think those two were great.

I love the Jagged Alliance series, recently i have finished the fan made mod Deidranna lives in profi-mode. i simply can't get enough of these series. Together with Incubation and Shadow Company these are the best sqad fighting games. My favourite characters are:

Buzz. Grunty, Shadow, Magic, Wolf, Meltdown, Igor, Ice, Grizzly & Reaper.

Incubation!
Wow. We Germans must be strange folks, I loved Incubation!
...try to give alcohol to Igor, THEN tell me if you still like him...

yep - Igor has an alcohol problem , but he is cheap, a very good fighter and a good friend of Grunty.

Another good strategic fighting game is Gorky 17 (if you don't care about the unrealistic weapon ranges).

After I gave alc to Igor all I could do with him was have him teach militiamen.

People warned me NOT to get Gorky 17, so I guess I'll steer clear of that one!

Well this brings memories. I wouldn't call this game RPG though. It was mainly tactical with RPG elements. Now my favorite? I don't remember the names any more, but I made one team with sniper chicks only. There were for sure: Buzz, Scope, Raven and one more can't recall now, plus my LADY.

JA2...what a Great Game !

Yes...

JA2 does bring back happy memories for me as well. Still has replay value and I have a recent saved game this time with the sci-fi bit turned off.

RPG or not ??

Well, if Baldurs Gate was set in a modern warzone, it probably wouldn't be much different from JA2. I know that its not very stat orientated, but not all RPG's are.

I can't find the add-on "Unfinished Business" anywhere, maybe I am not looking hard enough.

I loved the character love/hate relationships. After finishing it for the first time, I bought the official guide to see what I missed. I usually do this with most games. I don't buy the guide straight away as I prefer to find out stuff myself.

I cant remember names now, but it was such an involving game. I loved the part where you could steal the Big Guys money and then break into his house through the trap door.........much shooting.

In fact, now you have got me on the subject I have this urge to play this again. It was a game that I couldn't fault that much.

Was JA3 on the cards or has that been canned ??

The other games you guys mention? Incubation ? Whats that about ? any good ?

Yes, I will start JA2 again tonight. Thanks for the prompt. I am sure that I have lots of other dust covered games that need a revisit.

Regards,

Hexmaster

Incubation homepage / demo:

a very challenging squad based fighting game - one false move and you are dead - it is a bit like playing chess with weapons

move limitation, ammo limitation, resistent opponents, all those neat things ...

JA3 was unfortunately canceled due to company going with the smoke. At the time they were saying that the game supposed to be more RPG than the tactical.
