There is a console command that will allow you to save a character, then insert him later in the game or even a new game, no matter where you are.

Just type (export hero) and a file will be inserted into your save directory. ( hero_export.zen) This file can be edited with a text editor.
I created a character at the beginning of a game and gave himm all of the skills.
1h, 2h, bow, crossbow, etc...
go here to see more info about it. http://www.cableone.net/Ariakas/files.htm

I wouldn't use it to give yourself combat skills or stats. That kind of ruins the game... but hey... your game.

I did, however, use it to get mastery in the thieving skills just to see if they were as bad as they looked. Yes, yes they were. Lockpicking is the exception, as not breaking picks saves on reloads. But its up to a player to decide whether or not not having to reload every time you bust a pick at the beginning of the game is worth 30 points.

Personally, I beat up some guy in the new camp and got 300 picks. But I'm a thug.

hehe why not just insert master everything
all hunt skills, thief skills, melee, mage and all 6 circles and give yourself 3 sets of heavy guard armor too?
And 1000000 ore then just run right to the sleeper and finish the game already, bah, quests! Who needs em

I gave myself some cool heavy guard armor once... then played for ten minutes, realized that I might as well have god mode on... the armor will make you invincible until chapter four or so... and dropped the armor into the raging river by the bridge golem to remove all tempation.

There's lots of points to go around. No need to text edit.
