WoW: Open Beta Sign-ups Coming Soon!

Open Beta Sign-ups Coming Soon! screams the headline at World of Warcraft:
We are happy to announce that we will soon be accepting applicants for the World of Warcraft® Open Beta Test for North America. The open phase of beta will give people a chance to enter Azeroth and play World of Warcraft before the game is released. More details will become available in the days ahead, so stay tuned.

If it's open, why do you need to sign up?

But really, I'd guess they will open signup's on Monday, and they will probably start open beta 2 weeks from now. Maybe 3 at most, since I'm sure they want a good final stress test of 2-3 weeks before they release in November.

Ammon's right on, release no later than Thanksgiving week.

For entertainment, go to the official boards and read about all the people in denial (that it isn't going live in November).

I have to buy the thoery that they just like playing for free

Actualy I think Thanksgiving is a stretch. They said there will be multiple patches before open beta sign-ups start. This means probably another month at minimum. Sign-ups themselves might take a week or so. So it will probably be almost Thanksgiving by the time the open Beta even starts.
