Im trying to pick the chest in constantinos shop to get the ring. Whatshisface in the thieves guild said to turn left, then right. I did that, they both "sounded good" but then what? I tried pushing the action button and it didnt open.

You have to go on going to left and right etc. |

Different chests have different combinations. The longest combination I've found is 20. Keep going left right and as long as you get sounds good, continue. If you get a damn, start over or a broken lock pick, then you start form scratch. The combination stays the same by default.
