Strength and Sword fighting

Here's a quick question. Can more strength make you a better sword fighter? For instance, if I had a sword that required 30 strength and I had 75 strength, would I do more damage than if I had 30 strength?

On a critical hit you get to add your full strength to the weapon.

So if you have a 100 strength and are using a sword that does 70 base you do 170 damage on a critical hit or 70 damage on a regular hit. Makes a big difference.

Critical hit percentage is what the percentage on the right of your character sheet is. IE: If you have 15% rookie then 15% of the time when you hit you'll add strength damage. Obviously if you have 100% every hit is massive amounts of death to your enemies, though I'm having a hard time justifying to myself taking it above 60% (lots of other places to spend points, or simply horde them...).
