Gothic 2 German Demo without speech files

(Hi, I used to be Lester's Friend on this forum but I can't remember my password or the e-mail address I used, but anyway)

As some of you may know there is a file you can download on another thread which adds english subtitles to the German demo. SInce I have not downloaded the demo I wouldn't know how good quality they are but I assume you can make a better guess as to the correct English. What I was wondering was this:
Can anyone take out the German Speech files (.wav I guess) from the demo to keep the download size down? Then we can have a psuedo-english demo with a smaller download size? Is this possible and if it is can someone do it and post it here on rpgdot!

I think that if you PM Myrthos or Rendelius they will look at your I.P. and maby you can get you'r old password back.

its possible but it aint easy :\ u need to find a prog what extracts all those wavs and then u delete them and replace them with 0 bytes sounds and replace them with the original onez well then it might work but well again that will cost some time and it probably will be only a little bit smaller :\ so i would recommand to download the full demo

its possible and easy
  • install the gothic II demo
  • delete Data\Speech1.vdf, Data\Speech2.vdf, _work\Data\scripts\Content\Cutscene\Ou.csl, _work\Data\scripts\system\* and perhaps _work\Data\video\intro.bik.
  • Unpack my machine translation files with many stupid/funny translation mistakes or wait until Xerxes712 finish his translation.
  • Create a self-extracting files with Winrar or Winace.
  • Find a lot of ftp space (@Admin of gothic.rpgdot.com)

There's that much speech in the demo? Didn't they compress the files?
