Secret Panel...

Ok guys, I have stumbled across a secret panel.....

I have searched a bit of this forum and no-one else has mentioned it, so here is what I have found.

In the upper part of town, there is the guy who sells potions (Solmarill?).

Well, if you go behind his counter as if to use his alchemy bench, then turn to face the counter, the button is below the counter on the left.

Press this button and a panel opens revealing a chest. I cant open it without "The right Key". Next door on the shelf above the fire is a key, but that only opens up the chest in that room (Gold chalice and 150gp).

I saved the game and beat Solmarill to see if he had the key....nope.

It makes me wonder how many more secret buttons I have gone passed because I havent been looking before.

Regards,

Hexmaster

There's one in the judge's house as well (the shield on the top floor, if I remember right). I don't know where to get that key though.

Anybody know if there is anything really worthwhile in these?

Burns, as of the Judge's chest. The key can only be pickpocketed from the Judge (he is unkillable) and it contains a quest item for a thief guild mission.

So........that means you get different items depending upon whether you knock them down or pickpocket them..........hmmmmmmm..

Must have a hidden pocket in his jacket then.

I found a button upstairs of Knight's Barracks in Upper Quarter next to the fireplace. Pressed the button, heard a click and what sounds like a stone wall moving, but I can't seem to find what opens. Any ideas?

There's some kind of cabinet near the button that slides aside to reveal a spell scroll.

Salandril (upper qtr potion guy) has nothing special in that chest.

If I remember correctly, some potions, scrolls and silver.

Yeah thats a bummer! Also if you kill merchants, their inventory and gold mysteriously disappear =( I remember all the fun I had in Gothic 1 killing merchants for their stuff. Also, when I gave Canther the 500 gold to have the merchants deal with me again, I killed him right after so I can get my gold back. Unfortunately it disappeared.

To steal the merchant's stuff, tell them to show it to you first. Then whack them.

If you whack them before you tell them to show you their wares, then nothing will appear.

If you give gold to a merchant, he won't have it. It just disappears.
Just like selling stuff to them won't increase their gold.

Is that worth it? Do the merchants have anything worth buying after that?

They never had anything I needed after that, but maybe that's just me.

Is there another way to do this thing? I mean other than planting the note. Maybe you can somehow turn Canther in or something? Maybe just kill him and pay a fine?

Also, what happened to the female that you were supposed to plant the note on? She just disappears.

I tried both those things and neither way works.
