patch 1.20xxx console broken - need help

I am stuck in the landscape, so i opened the console to type fixme. wheneve i press i in the console, it jumps out of the console and the mouse pointer disapears, if i try pressing i again, the inventory screen comes up.

i can't type fixme to get out of the ground. has anyone else had this problem since patchin morrowind?

Heard of this before:

Perchance have you mapped the 'i' key to open the game menus? I've seen it before with someone who wanted the Daggerfall key bindings to work in Morrowind - whenever I hit 'i' in his console the menus appeared.

Could this be it?

that was it alright. i re-mapped it to a key next to my movement keys - not one the normal letters on the keyboard and it fixed it. thanks for the idea
