Issues with inventory and map windows

For some reason, Morrowind doesn't seem to like my ATI Radeon card. I've tried almost all the Catalyst drivers, but none seems to work well with Morrowind, particularly in the inventory and map windows.

Catalyst 3.0

Everything seems to be fine, except that the paper doll in my inventory window seems to be layered incorrectly. (e.g. the character's arm is layered in front of his shield.) Here are some screenshots:

Catalyst 3.1 / 3.2

There are some annoying black stripes covering up the inventory and map windows. Here are some screenshots.

Catalyst 3.4 / Omega 2.4.43

Both inventory and map windows are haunted with some weird artifacts. Here are some screenshots:

Morrowind crashed when I tried to load it with Omega 2.4.07a. The performance in Morrowind was extremely poor when I tried to loaded it with Catalyst drivers earlier than 3.0. So, I can't do anything with them.

Does anyone here know from where does my problem originate? If so, is there anyway to get the best of both worlds -- no artifacts and black stripes, and yet, the paper doll is layered correctly?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

1) Disable anti-aliasing.

2) Angry phone call to ATI support.

3) Clean driver install - http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/
