Off topic: Vivendi holds ace over Half Life 2 release?
Gamespot is reporting that Vivendi has the power to delay the release of Half Life 2 up to six months after the Final Release Candidate is delivered. This may prove to be a bargaining chip in the ongoing legal battles between Valve and Vivendi (story on Gamespot), although it's worth noting that Vivendi needs the sales and there is no evidence at this point that Vivendi will use this tactic.
The relevance to RPG gamers? It's well known that Troika's Vampire: Bloodlines must be released after Half Life 2, so any extended delay with HL2 could impact Bloodlines. The latest information on Vampire's status was in August when Troika's Leonard Boyarsky said the game has heading "towards beta" (story), so it seems likely this issue will be resolved before Troika is ready with Bloodlines. Still, fans might want to keep an eye on this dispute.
