Hi,
I had a similar problem, but I was able to fix it.
Besides clearing out the registry entries you'll have to delete a folder that is created in the 'C:Program FilesInstallShield Installation Information' directory. That folder is hidden so be sure to set your view settings to allow you to view invisible folders. The folder I had to delete was "{BBF10B37-4ED3-11D5-A818-00500435FC18}".

This folder may or may not be the same for you, but on both of my installs it was the same. Otherwise you can just browse through the dirs in that folder and open the .ini files and search for the line:
AppName=Gothic
When you find that, you know you have the right folder. Go ahead and delete it and you SHOULD be able to get back into the regular install program.

One last note: You people seem hell-bent on reformats. Typically it's a good idea to manually back up your registry (Export... in regedit). Windows automatically backs it up everyday after a successful reboot, but only keeps the back ups for 3 days I think. To restore one of those automatic back ups, restart, hold the F8 key before the Windows loading screen appears, select and enter the option to boot up to command prompt, then type:
scanreg /restore

then select whichever registry file you wish to restore.
To restore one of your own backups (using my method, heh heh): boot up into safemode, run regedit, file->import, then find your back up and press 'ok', restart. Keep in mind that anything you installed after the backup was made will not work.

P.S.
I also found that copying the contents of both cds to my hard drive (make sure the cds are copied to different folders) allowed me to install it without locking up. Not sure if this will help you or not, but it's worth a shot if you're getting frustrated.

Hope that helps,
-antigov
