Sorry but that was a rather ignorant and offensive remark he made. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

Sorry about that comment -I was drunk, angry and raving for personal reasons. I apologize. Dungeon keeper was one of the better games I've ever played.
Just for the record, I appreciate all things non-US, from art to music etc. |

G2 release is October 29, right before Holloween. Last I seen.
I like alot of games outside of USA, especially German games.
USA games tend to focus much more on fast quick fighting and not much depth; dumbed down for average main stream Joe Six Pack to maximize profit.
European, especially German, has more slower paced strategy; thinking man's game. I am older and can not hit the reflex buttons quick.
I got Dungeon Keeper 2 (wish for 3, I made an editor for it and fixed the stupid AI in skirmish mode to make infinite replay with random maps; its one downfall), 1503 A.D., Patrician 2 and soon 3, even Port Royale 1 and later 2, Stronghold and Crusader, I of Dragon (soon with love from Russia), Arx Fatalis (France or German? great game but needed more polish and longer hope for 2), Cossacks, Warlords (Australia), Warrior King: Battles (France?) etc. too many to list... _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |

You might also call this mainstream. The big American and French publishers understand that to appeal to the masses everything which could be criticised by parts of the target audience must be avoided.

I also think more interesting games than ever before are created in Germany (and non-English speaking Europe). Unfortunately most fail to cash in big time due to a weak publisher , lack of polish or 'featureritis'.

Sounds like you like it complex.
Arx is French. DivDiv Belgian.
Patrician 3 is actually a relabeled P2 Gold (P2 + add-on). There´s a thread on GoneGold with a looong feature list. P3 itself isn´t even announced yet.
btw., the English Tortuga (aka Pirate Hunter) demo is out. Port Royale 2 minus the trading plus more pirate things sounds like I could enjoy this one. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Odd name. Tortuga is "sea turtle" in Spanish *grin* Hmmmm, now that I think about it, it might just be turtle, but I've only heard it used in reference to sea turtles. It is also the name of a famous island, supposed home to pirates. Does the island LOOK like a turtle? _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

i was originally thinking of my favorite games which i'd thought were american..maybe not..
Baldur's gate 1, 2, throne of bhaal
Planescape: Torment
Fallout 1 and 2
Arcanum: of Steamworks and magic obscura
Icewind Dale 1, 2
Divine Divinity: which i didn't know was belgian
Those other ones are american aren't they? If so, I don't think they're mainstream or simplistic..i loved 'em. |
