I totally agree. One of the reasons (among many) why I left DAoC. Not to mention a half made game made for market before it was ready. One thing I did like about DAoC was the PvP. NOW THAT WAS SOME FUN!!!!!!! Invading another lands castle and storming it, making BattleRams and stuff like that,,,,,gawd, that was about the best part of DAoC. In the end though, yeah, I would just have preferred a portal in that game too as opposed to some cookie cutter horse riding in ONE direction.
To make an unrelated comment, heh. I think there should be some herbs in this game. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, LOL. Maybe not the SAME herb im talkin about, but some sort of SMOKABLE subtance. Maybe after you smoke it, it gives or takes away some points towards one attribute or another. Would be cool, ehh?
