Vampire Multiplayer is nothing less (or more) than a normal Pen And Paper game, played inside the computer.
You have a storyteller, and a couple of players. The storyteller rules, talk through the NPC's, spawn items, spawn monsters, have full control over everything, while the characters just try to solve whatever the Storyteller put in their way.
The game is totally played with new maps and characters. There are many huge and very wellcrafted maps released for Vampire, and there are skinpacks with 400+ skins...
Sayeth after Me:
"Baldurs Gate II shalt be playeth in singleplayah"
You cannot experience BG2 with friends, its not the same. Play it alone, with the NPCs in the game, and experience the story. Multiplayer in BG2 spoils all the fun.
If you want to play Black Isle in multiplayer, go with Icewind Dale and Heart of Winter instead. Thoose where made for multiplayer. No talking, just fighting and going up in levels. No main character, but a party of 6 that must do it together. Super items, super monsters...

Try System Shock 2. It is an excellent immersive rpg. It is sci-fi horror. The first one was good also, but a bit dated. I would also suggest Thief/Thief II for imersion, though not really an RPG (no character growth).

Well, I must disagree there.
What makes System Shock 2 good would made Gothic a terrible game...
No interraction with noone whatsoever...
And defenitly no freedom, just linear run through corridor after corridor...
That dont mean that System Shock 2 isnt good, but they are completely different games.
