You can sell the ring. At some stage of the game you will be given the key for your own room in the castle where you find an extra bag to store more items in the inventory and where you can also put items in the chest of your room.

Storage?

You can stick stuff in any of the barrells lying around, and in some of the chests, once you have taken control of the area. It will be there when you come back for it. Just remember where you leave the stuff. It may end up being a matter of live and death later. I wouldn't put on any ring unless you know what it will do to you. Open the book and look at your stats as you put stuff on and take it off.
