they have already started the early stages of Gothic 3, i doubt they'll ever have online/multi, doesn't really fit with Gothic's style

An add-on is like an additional part of the game, if you have gothic 2, you'll be able to install the add-on and play it

An add-on is a typical measure for keeping the creative department busy while the techies and coders prepare the next full game.

Is it like an expansion?

Like Tribunal to Morrowind? or "Thorne of Baal" to BG2?

Did the first Gothic had an add-on?

Do you think they can release gothic 3 in Germany and the rest of the world at the same time?

Tribunal and Throne of Bhaal are add-ons, yes.

My guess about future Gothic is that the add-on is somewhere near Khorinis(due to the ending movie), and that Gothic III is on the mainland.

I heard that the paladins has finally lost the orc war in the addon. So, I think the atmosphere of G2 addon won't be as "happy" as the one we have seen in G2 original.

According to official announcements, this is true.
