Do paladins need dexterity?

I read somewhere they do but can't understand why. Melee weapons are based on strength right?

Yeah, but you forgetting ranged weapons which are based on dexterity. Paladins tend to run out of mana fast.

Well, I figure you could get away with it. Dex is useful for lockpicking and makes your attacks a bit faster though. Just something to keep in mind.

There are melee weapons which use dexterity instead of strength, like rapiers etc. At least in the add-on... and those weapons need a LOT of dexterity to use.

To use dexterity based weapons,

Damage Dex' Strength Value

Master sword 65 65 - 1500
Rapier 50 50 - 600
Sword 18 10 - 10

With your strength only on 10 you could inflict 65 damage & if you learned
skills till you were a "master" you could then, for example, using only
forward/forward/forward/forward inflict the most devastating combination
attack (right swipe then hold with 2 hands) then (left swipe) then a
pirouette (full circle) then (Zorrow Z).
I went through to the end of the game like this.
