PC Game Publishers Doing More Damage Than Pirates @ JoeUser. |
|
Some little time past, I did a small report on the damage that Piracy is doing to the PC Gaming Industry...so today's report is rather a retort by a certain "Draginol" over at JoeUser.com that maintains it's the Game Publishers, rather than the Pirates, that are doing the damage to PC Game sales...

When I buy a pizza, I expect to get a pizza. I expect it with the toppings I order, and I expect it to be delivered promptly. By calling Domino's or Papa John's, I've contractually agreed to pay for a pizza when it arrives. But if the deliverman shows up 2 hours late, with cold pizza, with Anchovies instead of Peperoni, then, no, I'm not going to pay for that. The problem with typical game publishers, is they expect you to eat that pizza, and be happy for it. You paid for hot pepperoni, and got cold anchovies, but you have no recourse.
|

What a fine bit of casuistry.
. . . so therefore you should never have to pay for a pizza (for some very good reason (I'm sure) or another) and yet still get to eat all the pizza you want. Is it then any surprise that the pizza shop goes out of business and/or stops delivering your demographic entirely (e.g., only delivers to console users who actually pay). The metaphor is equally bad because every pizza store would soon realize this guy is a thief and stop delivering to him entirely. |

That's an interesting article, Kristophe. Thanks for sharing it. _________________ If soot stains your tunic, dye it black. This is vengeance.

An interesting article but not very coherent, in my opinion. I think Brad has missed the mark on a number of points. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |
