mine is
celeron 800,
creative vibra,
128 mb sdram,
asus v7100 geforce2mx 32mb w/ latest detonator driver,
motherb asus cuv4xc if im correct,
and windows xp pro,
very old eh...
i tried to change the sound to direct sound, disable reverb, using cacheman, and thats the only program running when im playing gothic... i even set the graphics to 640x480 16bit, with only 40% visual detail, and slide the character and landscape detail to the lowest... that didnt help a thing...
my cpu's seems like its always working when i play gothic... and the loading time is very2x long... especially when im in new camp, gomez's castle, in front of many enemies, and many other... the only place that loads fast and smooth is in the free mine and the old mine... whats my problem?

The main problem is RAM. An upgrade to 512MB (or at least 384MB) should give you a huge boost.
Cpu, WinXP, GeForce2-MX are all not perfect for Gothic, but they should be tolerable.

If boosting main ram to 500 doesn't completely solve the problem - upgrade your video card to a 64 meg version.
