hello

i tried to find it elsewhere, but to no avail. i am wondering how the game calculates total damage - does every str/dex point above weapon requirement add to the amount of damage? so if your str is 30, sword damage is 20 and it's str req is 10 then you get +20 damage bonus that totals in 40 damage points ?
if this is correct then shouldn't i make such calculation every time i find a new - stronger weapon? because it could have higher str requirement thus sometimes resulting in less damage?
in the above example i inflict 40 damage points, if i find a 30 dmg sword with 21 str req then i end up with 39 damage points (30+9)

does it ever happen ? is my way of thinking even correct ?

I only know (or I belive I know) that
1 dex. (for (cross)bows)/str.(for melee weapons) = 1 more damage.

yes, i know that too.
the point is, can more powerful weaps be sometimes in fact less powerful due to their high strength requirements.

It's more like skill thing that matters most with weapons, example you can use any weapons if you got enough strenght, but they'll do less damage if you have not skilled enough. I had that feeling with some weapons, that it was easier to handle them when i had far more strenght, just feeling not necessary true. Maybe that is something unfinished in Gothic, dunno...

yeah, i get the feeling too
but i still require techie info, that is what i probably won't get since there is not enough data available, apparently.

question remains you know, i started counting when i noticed how high str req's are for some weapons. oh well
