I'd be interested to know how many people plan to buy it. I'm undecided, as I mainly play mods and they're free. Plus Gothic 2 is slated for release here in a few weeks time.

I think we will. This is supposed to have a much stronger story and I'm interested to see how Floodgate's work compares to community efforts. Plus, I figure lots future fan-mods will rely on the new art of SoU.

I don't think it will be expensive, although in addition to G2, Pirates of the Carribean is also on the horizon.

Bioware are my enemies now, after what they've done to NWN and after how they treated me like a fool when I tried to point out some weaknesses of the game. For example, I used to rant a lot on their official boards about the awkward camera angle NWN initially had. When I, along with many other former fans, requested a patch that would enable us to decrease the camera slope, people started making fun of us, and some Bioware representative dude came up with an "official" response in which he stated that no such change would be possible due to the Aurora engine's limitations. Apparently, he lied, because months after the camera angle wars drew hundreds of loyal fans away from Bioware and NWN, amateur programmers created a camera hack. Thus, from the start Bioware were against us, since they could've changed the game the way we wanted it to be in a matter of minutes by tweaking two or three variables, but chose not to do so. I don't wanna deal with them anymore.

Besides, many RPG players consider NWN to be crap, either with or without the camera hack. NWN sold solely on the marketing hype and thanks to the "made by creators of Baldur's Gate series" logo stamped on the box. Let's see how sale figures for the expansion will look like this time

P.S. Derek French was the guy's name. It was him who officially stated that NWN's camera anlgle was impossible to change. Shame on liar!

actually your an idiot

I've given up on all other games and play NWN exclusively. In fact I run my own semi-persistant world 24/7. The camera angle upset me as well but it wasn't the biggest deal. It wasn't "months" before the camera hack was created it came out quite early and was a complete surprise. Bioware's argument against it is the game mechanics. The fog visibility needs to be increased substantially to make it viewable. It is murder to the AI some consider it cheating to use the camera hack.

Bioware allows a single thread to be posted in their main forum with no response from them. I don't know of a single official forum that alllows for discussion when it involves decompiling their own code. The way you talk now I can see why others made fun of you.

The fact they've they've written a way to adjust the camera angle into the game now is not hypocrisy but reality. The camera hack corrupts the NWMain.exe file and therefore prevents upgrading to new levels. Bioware was getting flooded with complaints from people that corrupted their own program. You'll note there's no way to adjust the fog with their system.

Everyone I play with will get the expansion pack. No one I know is interested in the single players mod. What they are interested in is the additional content for the toolset and playability. The game is more of a toolset than anything else. Where somethings like the desert tileset are available elsewhere unique monsters and prestige classes are not. Even with the available of the desert tileset it requires a hak pak which most casual players can't be bothered to look for and download. This will allow content the builders want without decreasing popularity.

I'm sorry you've missed the point and fun of NWN. The people I play religiously day in and day out have become very close friends of mine and I've now met some of them in real life.

"The game is more of a toolset than anything else"

To bad nobody told me that before I bought the 'game'...

Very Let Down...

I hate to have to agree, but NWN is a terrible game, and a great let down - I was especially disappointed by the single player side. So cliched, and so wrong!
