Yep, Wiz8 single player aces NWN in just about every way. I find that easy to agree with.

But judging a game purely by its single player is a major folly these days, unless single player is all the game has, like in Wiz8. The main attraction of NWN (at least for me) is the prospect of the campaign-creating toolset, which has led to many hundreds of user-created mods being available, for free, as I type this. With them, I can finally have friends over for night of D&D roleplaying, without the pen and paper.

Yes, NWN is in realtime. I could argue for ages about the merits of realtime vs. turn-based, but what it comes down to is this:
I love turn-based single player more than realtime single-player, because it makes the whole thing so much deeper than just wandering around endlessly clicking the left mouse button like in D2. But, as much as I hate to admit it, turn-based simply DOES NOT WORK IN MULTIPLAYER. It is much too slow, and people less patient than myself will often give up playing after a few battles. So, being marketed as primarily a multiplayer game, NWN had to be in realtime. Live with it. At least it isn't as mindless as D2 multiplayer.

In the end, it's a matter of preference, of course. Personally, as much as I love it, I'm willing to sacrifice turn-based combat if it means I can play a good NWN campaign with my D&D buddies.

Hell, I love both games: Wiz8 for singleplayer and NWN for multiplayer.
