We used to get served Spam sandwiches and Spam and grits all the time in the school cafeteria. I hated Spam then (long before it's more modern use) and I now I hate it in all it's incarnations.

I'd say on my email accounts combined I get around 300-400 SPAMs per day, although procmail does send about 25% to dev/null. At least my spam filter gets smarter every day. S'what you get for owning your own domain name, I guess.

I feel your pain man, somehow my super-secret email addy got out. Now apparently, I've won all kinds of free stuff and I need to buy a whole lot of other stuff. I wish I was this lucky when playing the lottery. Do the companies that flog us mercilessly with that stuff actually think that makes me want their product? Quite to the contrary, a pox on thy business and home, lowly spammer.
Im the same with pop-ups, I hate the things. Even moreso, the ones that are flash animations and players, and they are playing a commercial and it may take a few to shut it down. That's part of the reason I dont watch broadcast TV, I abhor commercials, and having a commercial suddenly blaring thru my speakers is outright offensive and an invasion of privacy. I hate it i HaTe iT I HATE ITIHATEITIHATEITIHATEITTIHATEITIHATEIT!!

Spam is a low concept but I've gotten used to it. Every spam filter I've used has been fairly worthless and took much more time to set up/administer than just deleting the stuff! At least I get some vague amusement from what we call 'The Nigerian Scam'. You know, "GREETINGS. I am Mbeki Tzsu, son of the respected Nigerian mining magnate...". They're getting more and creative all the time.
Pop-ups are history as is nearly all adware and spyware - I'll never use IE again! _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

Supposedly there's a guy who's having fun scamming the Nigerian scam guys. Then again, perhaps it was an April Fool's joke. _________________ Jaz |

I've gotten a lot of spam in my bulk mail. They have a bunch of Spanish in the subject heading and then the word "Penis." Three guesses what they're advertising. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

Maybe it was a typo - maybe they were selling pens?
My Yahoo address was spam-free for about seven years - then some good-for-nothing recruitment agency sold it on. At first I was getting spam from Taiwanese addresses for god knows what (all written in what I guess is Mandarin Chinese), then college degrees from no-name American organisations (sorry, got a real one thanks!), and finally I've arrived in herbal-supplement hell. To add insult to injury, my address is now held by a number of employment agencies that are riddled with virii, so I'm receiving copies of NetSky et al on a regular basis.
The spam is currently at a manageable level, and as I run Mozilla no virus will activate without me doing something moronic. But I'm definitely going to be getting a spam-hardened account in the near future. _________________ Charlie Dobbie

I just use one spam-email for on the internet (hotmail, you'll get spam on that account anyway) and normal account from my provider for the rest, to give to friends and official agencies and so.
It works ok for me. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

My yahoo account is 100% unusable.
I just went to check it as a goof to see how many spam a day I was getting, just to find out it has been deactivated! _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

On an average day I get about 10 or eleven smap e-mail plus 2 viruses,* at this point I don't even notice anymore, I simply expect it.
