NVIDIA Detonator 41.09 Drivers

Anyone try out these new drivers yet? I'd like to know if there are any improvements over the 40.72. What is the difference? What was changed?

Did the new driver affect Morrowind at all? If so, in what ways? Better or worse?

Hrm..I'm wondering when NVidia will release a detonator driver that actually has some noticable positive changes to games.

I'm running under 40.72

Anyone using Direct X 9 change their driver to 41.09 and see a difference between the drivers using the new Direct X?

Yes, i installed DirectX 9 yesterday, and still using the same NVIDIA drivers, there is a very big increase in my FPS. I mean, its so smooth that i cant believe i am still using the same video card. DirectX 9 is impressive.

Ammon, what is you video card?, GF2, 3 or 4?. I already have DX9 and it improved MW's frame rates, now i want to know how far newest nVidia dirvers would increase performances for different GF cards.

This may sound odd, but while still running the detonator driver 40.72, I installed Direct X 9 and found a 10-15 FPS increase in Morrowind. Its crazy! Direct X 9 is the greatest, and cheapest (free!) upgrade I ever gave my computer!

My videocard is a GeForce 3 Ti 500 64 MBs

I just upgraded both to the detonator 41.09 and DirectX 9, and to my misery it seems to have had a rather detrimental effect. I use this FPS Optimizer tool, and the now fog seems to roll in much closer to maintain FPS now (this is in Mournhold, BTW). Wish I hadn't listned to the talk on this forum.
This is on Win98se, GF4 TI 4400, 512 MB RAM, AMD XP 1800+

Ghan. I think you should upgrade to Win XP, I'm not sure if that would affect anything...

I have an AMD Athlon XP 1900+, 512 MBs DDR RAM, GF3 Ti 500 and Win XP Home Edition.

My detonator driver is at 40.72, I wasn't sure if I should upgrade to the next detonator driver cause it wasn't WHQL certified yet.

Detonator drivers...

Its the new BETA driver series from NVIDIA. The Last WHQL certified one was the driver version 40.72, and the new 41.09 is a WHQL candidate.

They are a set a drivers that may help increase performance from your NVidia card or something heh. Read more about it here:

http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_41.09

more specifically:

I'm not sure which it was, but either the newest NVidia drivers or DX9 caused my Morrowind game to reboot my computer right at startup. Also, several other games were having severe problems. I removed them both, and now use DX 8.1 and the drivers that came with my new video card, and Morrowind runs really well - better than ever before.
