This error may have been on here before but I couldn't find it.
I can't get into a room in the Orc Temple Gothic crashes and I get the error
B: VFILE: Err: -2: Can't find file: _WORKDATASOUNDITRW_2H_ORCSTAFF_01.MRM Code: 255
I am on 1.08k of gothic and am running on Windows XP. I have tried setting all the sound options, turning off the music made the crashes in other areas fewer.
There is a room with a portcullis that opens then a blue glow which emanates from behind it then it crashes.
Please help.

Strange, because the game is looking for compiled mesh data in the sound directory.
There are some reasons why this may happen,
so could you please so kind to contact me.

At first try to delete [GOTHIC]/VDFS.DMP
( DMP _not_ cfg =)

Because our mail server is currently down I upped the the files to
http://www.bendlins.de/nico/gothic/user/.dietrik/
There you'll find savegame2.zip which contains to (hope so) fixed savegame.
If it's not working for you:
- download _work.zip
- unzip it to [GOTHIC]/_work/
- start zSpy.exe
- run Gothic_zlog.bat
( add -zWindow to the commandline if needed )
- nico
