I don't see how it could be like U7 at all. You only control a single character.
Well, I don't know if the game lets you get npc's to join you along the way or not, but does a game have to have multipe characters for it to be hard core? If that is the only real difference between the level of hard coreness that you're looking for, in Ultima 7 and Divine Divinity, it seems it isn't that big a deal and it would still be worth a try. _________________ "Mr. Magee, don't make me angry. I agree totally. The number of characters has nothing to do with roleplaying. Divine Divinity just doesn't look very hardcore to me. It looks like the interface is very simple like Diablo. Arx Fatalis on the other hand is very inovative. The demo is great. You should try it. |

Glad you agree. I think the problem is that the movie you saw did not do the game justice. You'd really need to read the reviews and play the demo in order to see that it's alot more hardcore than Diablo. I just checked out the official FAQ at the Larian website and they say you can recruit npc's if you have a decent leadership skill. Also the gameworld is going to be alot more interactive than in Diablo. And the npc's will have alot more to say and react more realistically. Also they said it will be a 3-4 cd game that supports 1024x768 resolution which is better than Diablo 2, right?
Arx Fatalis also looks good, but it is just an underground game without any overland travel, if I remember right. Divine Divinity will have both overland and underground exploration. |

Yeah, the new system is kind of annoying. I've checked that "log me in automatically" button 50 times. |

But there is no playable demo for Divine Divinity. Also...don't compare DD with Arx Fatalis because they are totally different styles of play.
Where the game takes place (overland, underland..etc.) means nothing. |

It does mean something if you are claustrophobic. _________________ "Mr. Magee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

I'd say just believe Myrthos when he says the game will have a lot of interactivity. From all of us here (maybe with the exception of Moriendor, another staff member), he's probably the only one with actual gameplay experience.
I am really looking forward to the demo, although I fear it could get buried under all that Morrowind excitement that will arise early May if the rumors are substantial. But nevertheless, Divine Divinity is amongst my highy anticipated yet-to-be-released RPG's this year. My fav list is: Morrowind, Arx Fatalis, Divine Divinity, Sea Dogs 2 and NWN (I think that's about the order in which they will appear... _________________ Rendelius

Read the post above my last one. Rendelius talks about Myrthos having
actual gameplay experience with DD. That's why I thought there might be a demo. |

Everyone is right . I have playing experience and there is no demo. Everyone can go to Larian Studios and play the beta version of the game. Of course it means you have to be in western europe in order to do that.

It works for me though. Do you have cookies enabled?
If so then I think it's the expiration time of the cookie, which needs to go up probably. _________________ Kewl quotes:

I agree with Lysander, Morrowind meets all your requirements. _________________ "That which does not kill us makes us stronger."
