arena fight?

I've heard somewhere that it is possible to stage fights w/skully? If this is true how do you start arena fights?

It's not possible the regular way. Here's my recipe:

(after choosing an appropriate stage):

a) insert referee and possess him/her (or just possess the guy if he/she is already present)
b) set his/her flag to immortal if it's not already at the stage
c) insert combatant No. One, preferrably one who lives at the place where you stage the fight
d) if necessary, possess and mortalize him
e) insert the opponent
f) if necessary, possess and mortalize him
g) If they don't want to fight (because they aren't enemies), provoke them - either cast a rage spell or possess the weaker of them (for the sake of fairness) and have him hack once at the opponent before you leave for the body of your referee again.
h) be sure to have a camera ready."

You can change camera positions - in Marvin mode - with the F4 to F6 keys (or was it F7?).

Tips:
Possess the referee, not the fighters.
The trick is to find a place where the inserted characters can't walk away, or either have to walk for a long while until they leave the vicinity so you have a chance of inserting their opponent. And you ought to choose a referee both combatants find agreeable... not too easy either. And a stage and chapter which work with your combatants. I tried to stage the fight between Mud and Baal Netbek with Aaron as a ref for example, but Netbek fled because he was afraid of Aaron. Gomez and Lee, on the other hand, decided to join forces when I used Skip as a referee on the chapter chapter 5 castle courtyard... I still have a pic of both of those distinguished and quite enraged gentlemen hacking at me instead of each other.

If you want to see some results, use the forum search function to look up some of my old Fight Night threads (Fight Night II to IV, all with pics) in the Gothic General forum.

Thanks for the tips. I thought there might be a noncheat way of staging arena fights. skuly? has a conversation prompt that let you ask about betting on fights and he replies, "there will be a fight in a couple of days...but it'll be anounced. I thought this was a pc subplot lead.

Sorry, Scatty does indeed say this but there is no arena fight within the time frame of the game.

Yeah...
That was one of the weak points of the game...

Maybe it is an area that they meant to develop but never happened due to deadlines; like the abandoned mine. The change i'd wish for would being able to import the "hero" from gothic to gothic 2.

I have a feeling PB cut their budget at the very end to begin work on G2...

P.S. Anyone like my new style? Blue text.
