Will items stay in my house if I put them on shelves?

In other words: I like to decorate my house a little bit but I'm not sure if the items that I put in the outside world like on shelves or on a desk (not in containers) will remain there.

So do items alway stay there or will they dissapear after a while?
Thanks.

I've had a crapload of items laying around on the floor of Mages Guild of Balmorra I just hadn't any other place to store them so they are in a corridor there at the moment

Nothing has disappeared yet.

ever tried the balmora house plugin? Comes in handy for storage and I don't consider it cheating, since you have to kill "fierce creatures" to get it instead of an owner.

Yep, that's the house I was talking about actually
I've fought and defeated the "fierce" creatures and now call it home *g*

That plug in is silly. I just took over the bookstore. Everything stays exactly where you leave it.

I noticed an interesting problem with the physics though - If you stack up for instance 10 books, and then put a soul gem on top of them, and then pick up the 10 books, the soul gem will continue to hover in midair, because I guess there is no physics for items falling.

So if you want to you can make stuff float in the air all around your hideout.
