Go beat down shopkeepers if you want ore. Be warned, some shopkeepers cannot be beaten. In fact, the key to getting most of the good items in the game is to beat somebody down, quickly loot the items, then run.
Until you can rob the shopkeepers, yes, lockpicking is awesome. Be sure to rob the two chests in the blacksmith shop inside the castle, as well as the chests in the guard house inside the castle. There are many others as well...
I got started by learning lockpicking, robbing every digger chest and beating down every digger, looting. Then I paid the gold to get into the castle, looted the chests and got the 61 dmg sword and str potions. BTW, you should save the str potions until you have 100str if you want your char to be best. I then beat down Fisk, the shopkeeper, in his house at night, to avoid being killed by the guards. He has a TON of ore and good other stuff as well.
The other good shopkeeper to rob is Riordan, the potion brewer. He gives all the potions needed for the rest of the game.
One tip that many people probably don't know, is that by holding SHIFT as well as CTRL, you can pick up items 100 at a time. This can really save your arse if you need to loot ore or arrows in a hurry. |
