Spells of Gold: Interview @ Discworld
   

The Discworld has a brief <a href="http://www.thediscworld.co.uk/spells.htm" target="_blank">Q&A session</a> with Oxygen’s Kevin Hassall about the fantasy trading game with RPG elements, Spells of Gold. The article makes the comparison with Elite - one of the best space trading sims ever created, which is enough to pique my interest:<blockquote><em>Q: So how does the trading work?

<br>Kevin Hassall: The player starts in a fantasy town, with a map of the surrounding area, some cash, and that’s about it. But in the town there are shops, there are people who’ll give you missions and quests, and a bit of gossip. From their, it’s up to the player, whether you want to do work for other people or trade on your own account. Traveling around the world you workout what sells well where, what’s cheap where, who will pay for what to be done, and just when you’ve got the hang of one world you find a portal that allows you into another world... and then another, and another.…</em></blockquote>
