How do I repair my armor/weapons?

I picked Armorer as a Major ability, but I cant figure out how to do it, and it ruins me to have the armorer in the town do it.

I think the relevant variables are weight (how heavy repair items are to lug around) and quality (which I believe affects the amount of damage repaired by succesful armorer attempt). The better repair items have higher costs, lower weights per unit and higher quality. However, a relevant factor to consider that if you have armorer as major or minor skil, you may want to use lower quality repair items. Lower quality items require more succesful attempt to repair fully and therefore allow more opportunities to increase skill level.
