Now this sucks! LOL!
I bought another game to "pass the time" while I wait for you know what. I bought Arx Fatalis. (Yeah, I know but I didn't know it was JoWood-related when I bought it.) Anyway, I've been debating starting it because before you know it! Bam! (Sorry Emeril.) G2 will be on my doorstep! (Wishful thinking.) I've been struggling with playing it and DL'd the demo. Now I need a bit of guidance so I opened the box for the manual.
What falls out of the box??????? A 4x6" teaser card for G2 stating...... "Coming Soon." Arrgghhhhhhh!!!!!
Now, as I put the new game on the shelf, I am going back to play the German version G2 demo which I still don't understand.
Thank you for listening.
Can't wait for this game!

First, I thought they accidentally gave you G2 in an Arx Fatalis box... phew... So we are on the same boat now--we're being teased and 'tortured' by JoWooD...

BTW, if you don't mind of being spoiled, you can play and understand G2 demo with the English subtitles. In case you don't know, the subtitles are not machine-translated. And, here's the URL:
*SPOILER ALERT*

So, let's wait for Q1 2003!!! Wait, isn't it Q1/2003 already? Argh... |

Don't put Arx on the shelf, play the game. It's not too long and it's a great game well worth the hours spent on it. _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Thanks you guys!
Kiwi, The sad thing is that I have the translator, or one of them. It still speaks in German but it changes the wording to English-somewhat. It helped me immensely but didn't translate it enough. Then again, since I know the Gothic premise, it wasn't too hard to figure out what to do. It just made it hard to understand it entirely. Thank you so much for the link though. I will see if it is a different translator.
corwin and Dubbuk, I will take your suggestions! If the game isn't long it will be a perfect way for me to utilize my time. I could use my time to solve world hunger but hunger be damned! I need my pc games! LOL!
Thanks again to you all.

Well, I think this translator is much better than the first one. HornOx stole the English subtitles from some official German G2 patch. So, it's likely that this translator will be the "official" one. BTW, we should all give credits to him for his work.
Here, I just want to tell you how to use it:
1. After you download the g2demo_english.zip file, extract it to a temporary folder.
2. In the temp folder, you'll find a file called g2demo_english.vdf.
3. Copy this g2demo_english.vdf file to the .\Data folder of the game.
e.g. If you installed the game in the folder D:\Gothic II Demo, copy the file to the folder D:\Gothic II Demo\Data
4. After the file is copied, play the game and enjoy. |

And yet again. I thank you!
Question: If I have already installed the other version do you thibnk it will affect the current game if I delete the old and download the new?

Yes, absolutely!
You must wait for me to get home from work and I will scan it. Just post some instructions for me and I'll get it to you this evening.

[edit] That is . . instructions on where to send it, not how to use the scanner. LOL [/edit] |

Heh, not really. I really don't have too much use for it other than photos.
BTW, it's on it's way.

Jaz, heh, yeah. If I used my brain I think, eventually, I would have remembered that! LOL! Well. . . . mebbe. Considering I moderate another game forum you would think I would remember things like that. I guess if it's not my forum I play dumb blonde. |

@Gorath, at the risk of inciting more Gothic 2 availability threads will you post the teaser somewhere? |

Since we always get delays I've learned to be patient, so I'm not too worried about when it gets released.
But...curiosity is a powerful thing and I can't resist wanting to see it. |
