using lockpicks

How do you use lockpicks? I have learned the skill and have the picks in my inventory but I can,t get them to work. I left click on the lockpick in my inventory but nothing happens. If I go to a chest, I kneel down but can't do anything after that, not even get up.

when you kneel in front of a locked chest you are in a position to attempt to pick the lock. to do this you much find the correct combination to the lock by pressing the correct sequence of <left> and <right> directional keys. the lockpicks however are fragile and with each incorrect selection there is a percentage chance of them breaking (equal to 100 minus your current dex)

My advice to you is: always save before picking a lock.. whan opening the chast write down the combination.. than if your lockpick broke you can load game and you will open the chast without loosing the lockpick... (the combinations never changes... its the same in all computers all the time...
