When I used to play Gothic with my RAGE PRO 8M card, the magic barrier in the sky used to be there all the time.
However, I am now playing with a ATI RADEON 32SDR and the magic barrier stays for a few minutes and then disappears. I have heard this is what is supposed to happen.
I want that barrier to stay up all the time. Is there a way this can be done? It looks so much better with the barrier.
Why on earth would the developers have programmed the barrier to stay up only for such a short while? |

How can I set 300%?
I have view range at maximum and sky efects on and I see barrier just sometime.
I really want to know how to set 300%, but maybe I will not use it. Because clear blue sky with white cloud or dark, black sky with miliards of shining stars is better then this flashing blue...
Thanks |

I think what he means is that he is unable to set viewing distance to more than 100% in the options menu.
Solution :
Open up your Gothic.ini file and there is an option at the top of the file somewhere which records viewing distance. The scale ranges from 0 (20% distance) to 14 (300% viewing distance). Set the value to 14.
Any value higher than 14 will simply result in a 20% viewing distance
